Sidewalk ramps

A transportation system that works for everyone

More than 20 intersections on Southeast 82nd Avenue needed improved sidewalk ramps. The intersections to be improved were selected because they did not meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, making it difficult for people to use the sidewalk.

ODOT recognizes there is a larger need to improve additional sidewalks along Southeast 82nd Avenue. For this project, ODOT selected several areas to improve the sidewalks based on available funds, available space for building a wider sidewalk, and areas of high use.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act requires that places of public accommodation (such as sidewalks and streets) remain accessible to people of all ability levels. Sidewalk ramps that meet ADA requirements make it easier for all sidewalk users to safely get where they need to go. For more information visit
